知人论世
也指评论人物的优劣和世事的得失。
❍ 《孟子·万章下》：“颂其诗，读其书，不知其人可乎？是以论其世也。”意思是读书必须了解作者的为人及其所处的时代。后用“知人论世”指了解作者的为人，研究其所处的时代。
❍ 清·翁方纲《石洲诗话》卷四：“然方虚谷《瀛奎律髓》有‘党蔡尊舒、阴抑苏、黄’之论，甚矣知人论世之不易也！”
❍ 唐浩明《曾国藩》一部三章：“还是季高知人论世，高出一筹，涤生和筠仙的心坎，都让你摸到了。”
